Sanitary Sewer Smoke Testing begins today-

This study will involve the opening and entering of manholes in the streets and public utility easements. An important task of the testing will be to locate breaks and defects in the sewer system. The smoke will also reveal sources of where storm and other surface water enter the sewer system. Special non-toxic smoke will be used in these tests. The smoke is manufactured for this purpose, leaves no residuals or stains, and has no effect on plant or animal life. The smoke has a distinctive, but not unpleasant, odor. Visibility and odor last only a few minutes, where there is adequate ventlation. Because the plumbing appliances in your house or building are connected to the sanitary sewer system, some smoke may enter your home or place of business if the: • Vents connected to your building's sewer pipes are inadequate, defective, or improperly installed. • Traps under sinks, tubs, basins, showers and other drains are dry, defective, improperly installed, or missing. • Pipes, connections and seals of the wastewater drain system in and under your buildings are damaged, defective, have plugs missing, or are improperly installed. All residents are advised that if traces of this smoke or its odor enter your house or building, it is an indication that gases and odors from the sewer also may enter. These can be both unpleasant and dangerous, as well as a health risk to the occupants. Should smoke enter your home or business, you may contact a member of the smoke testing crew working in your area. The crew member will be able to help and check with you as to where the smoke has entered your building. Location, identification, and correction of the source of smoke that enters your building is urgently advised. Your cooperation will be appreciated. The information gained from this testing will be used to improve your sewer services and may reduce the eventual cost to utility customers.

Reminder- If a utility payment is not recieved by the 25th of the month and a payment arrangement is not made on paper with the utility clerk in the office, your services will be shut off.

Ripley’s 4th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting was so special! We love seeing all the kids and families enjoying a night together with their community in town. There were several people who help made this night amazing and we are so greatful for each and every one of them. From giving away toys, sponsoring prizes and candy canes, decorating, planning, serving food and drinks, selling useful items, fun games, heat sources, dressing up, transporting, announcing, safety precautions, and more- we have so much to be thankful for.

Merry Christmas!!!

Ripley Received $10,000 from TSET Healthy Incentive Grants to Support Community Health

Ripley, OK – The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) has awarded a TSET Healthy Incentive Grant of $10,000 to the Town of Ripley which supports local initiatives promoting healthier living.

The funding will be used to enhance Sharum Park. These improvements will provide residents with greater opportunities to engage in healthy lifestyles and contribute to long-term community wellness.

The TSET Board of Directors awarded the Healthy Incentive Grant during its meeting on May 29, 2025. The grant recognizes the community’s commitment to adopting policies and programs that improve public health and create a healthier environment for residents.

"We are honored to receive the TSET Healthy Incentive Grant and look forward to implementing the Sharum Park Upgrade to improve the health and well-being of our residents," said Courtney Lord, Board Member.

"Upgrading the park will provide a more inviting space that encourages physical activity, outdoor play, and community connection, promoting healthier living for all ages, Courtney explained. By prioritizing policies that support public health, we are making a lasting investment in a stronger, healthier future for our community."

TSET Healthy Incentive Grants for Communities are awarded to municipalities that implement policies encouraging healthy behaviors, such as tobacco-free environments, access to healthy foods and opportunities for physical activity.
